His Goal:

*  To apply his skills, knowledge and expertise in Naval Architecture, Boatbuilding and Computer Aided Design / Engineering.

Employment History:

 

1974 - 1977

Draftsman at his father’s Architecture Studio ( Arch. Jose Laurito.)

 

1978 – 1982

Draftsman at NÁUTICA INTEGRAL S.R.L. ( sailboats from 20’ to 52’).

Makeing all kind of drawings, needed to build the boats at the yard.

Also he worked aboard of "B/T MAR DULCE" (Tanker 330’ LOA), "B/T MAR MANSO" (Tanker 240’ LOA) drawing plans for replace old steam plants and auxiliary machinery (with the drafting table on the radio operator cabin & the owner’s cabin in each case), too. He also designed, and made plans for a new upper deck for the dredge "CORONEL DORREGO", and a new antenna tower for the tanker "B/T MAR BRAVO" all of those owned by LUNMAR NAVIERA S.A.

 

1983

Mechanical Draftsman at POWER STRAP S.R.L. (Automatic Packaging Machines)

 

1984

Yacht Designer at his own office, doing several designs free-lance (, a daysailer for amateur building in marine plywood “Hoby 18’”, a 25’DayCruiser in FRP, etc.)

 

1985 - 1986

Yacht Designer at ROBERTO ROVERE & ASSOC. (Naval Architects)

 

1987

Production Manager & Engineer at METALÚRGICA ANCHORENA S.R.L. (SS and aluminum alloy hardware / custom made masts & deck fittings ).

 

1988 – 1989

Production Manager & Chief Engineer at NAUTIVELA S.R.L. ( FRERS designed sailboats from 26’ to 43’).

 

1990

Yacht Designer at his own office, doing several designs for ASTILLEROS DEL PLATA and other private customers (a daysailer “Del Plata 17’ “, a 21’ trimaran, a 14’ cat “ Jet 14’ “)

 

1991 – 1992

Senior Engineer at GENCE S.A. (Designing and Building Compressed Gas Plants)

In this year he was promoted by the company to be trained on gas dispensers and gas compressors at the manufacturers sites: CHERCO-GEMMINI (Corpus Christi, Texas) and KRAUS ALTERNATE FUELS (Winnipeg,  Canada).

 

1993

1995 – 1999

Chief of Technical Support & Training Area at ARQUICAD S.R.L.

Bringing technical support and training to other engineers on AutoCAD, Mechanical Desktop, GENIUS, E-PLANT Piping, E-PLANT P&ID, E-PLANT STH, ELECTRICAL DESIGNER, and other. (These are soft packages for mechanical and plant design that run over AutoCAD)

 

2000 – Today

Ingeniero Naval (Naval Architect), UNIVERSIDAD TECNOLÓGICA NACIONAL - Regional Buenos Aires - Capital Federal, Argentina, 1990.

Yacht Design Course between 1980/82. (The main reason to did this course was to improve and practice technical English.) N.A.E.M.B. Westlawn School of Yacht Design, Connecticut, U.S.A.

 

During 1987/88 was selected by the UNIVERSIDAD TECNOLÓGICA NACIONAL to participate in a group to study and develop different kind of systems for the computer aided design of ships.

Also, he has published several technical notes on applied structural theory and applied hydrodynamics in the most popular magazines in Argentina (BARCOS Magazine, VELA Magazine, MOTONÁUTICA Magazine, etc.).

Professional Memberships:

 

*  Registered in the “Consejo Profesional de Ingeniería Naval” in Argentina with register Nº 723 since 1990.

 

*  Member of “Asociación Argentina de Ingeniería Naval” since 1990.

 

*  Member of the SOCIETY OF NAVAL ARCHITECTS & MARINE ENGINEERS (SNAME, U.S.A.) since 1981 as Student Member, later as Associate Member since 1990.

 

*  Autodesk registered trainer since 1995.

Other Skills:

*         Sails since 1978 in a wide range of sail and motor boats.

*    Practical expertise in welding, laminating FRP and composites, woodworking both restoring or constructing wooden boats and interiors (Traditional and Cold Molded)

 

*  Visual Studio( VBasic, VFox, VC++) programming.

 

*  Lisp & macros for AUTOCAD programming.

 

*  Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, Corel Draw and other office soft widely used.
